ART DIRECTOR
RED BULL SYMPHONIC
For Red Bull Symphonic, Afrobeats star Asake made history as the first African artist to headline the series in the U.S., bringing Lagos to Brooklyn for a performance at Kings Theatre. The show fused Afrobeats, classical symphony, and Hip Hop, blending Asake’s Nigerian roots with Brooklyn’s cultural legacy.
Rooted in Asake’s upbrining and essence, the night celebrated Afrobeats as a global movement shaped by tradition, collaboration, and evolution. The performance bridged cultures through a Lagos-meets-Brooklyn narrative, amplified by surprise appearances from artists such as Wizkid, Gunna, Centra Cee, and more.

MY ROLE:
As Sr Designer + AD, I came in for the pitch and again once we won the business. I helped shape the spatial narrative and visual system of the experience by leveraging my love for Afrobeats music and fluency using AI-driven design tools.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
The danfo bus anchored the visual system as a symbol of movement, echoed by the New York taxi through shared color and cultural parallels. This foundation shaped the stage design and key visuals before evolving into a Lagos market placed beside a Brooklyn flower shop, deepening the narrative between place, identity, and movement.
